Universal eBook Updates

As mentioned yesterday on the Facebook page, there has been a universal update to all of the Armada Wars Kindle eBooks. The purpose of the update was to:

• Make the eBooks totally consistent with each other,
• Make them appear much closer to the paperback editions
• Fix a couple of minor errors.

 
The new editions are a huge improvement over previous versions, and the eBooks have never looked so good. Read on to learn more!

The copyright page has been laid out differently to make it more streamlined, but more importantly it now includes a revision number. This is the simplest way for you to know you have the latest edition. 

De-Cluttering

As well as the copyright page, the "By the Author" and "Coming Next" pages have been tidied up and made consistent across all books. Where there are lead-in quotations, these have been given an inverted format and laid out in a more print-like fashion.

Embedded Fonts

The fonts for all titles and the body text have been embedded in the files. On Kindle devices, the body text will still render in your preferred font by default, but if you choose "Publisher Font" from the appearance menu you will get Palatino — just like the paperback edition! Titles, including chapter headings, will be rendered in Trajan Pro wherever possible.

Readers of From Shattered Stars may already have noticed another embedded font being used to comical effect somewhere in the book...

Minor Tweaks

• The solid bullets used to separate scenes in the eBooks have now been replaced with the hollow circles used in the paperback editions.

Book-Specific Changes

• ​List of the Dead — excerpt from The Ravening Deep replaced with a more exciting passage.
• The Ravening Deep — Excerpt added for From Shattered Stars.
• From Shattered Stars — Character presence clarified in one chapter, word replaced for repetition.
