OverviewAmarist Naeb was a member of an expedition which entered the Deep Shadows in 3743 ELC, in order to prospect on the geologically intriguing planet CC-60125-E. She was a civilian geologist, originally from Earth.
Now known to be an active and dangerous Rasa, Naeb has encountered Imperial personnel on several occasions. She has proven herself to be adept at combat and proficient in the operation of naval technology. In direct encounters she has a haughty, capable air about her which implies arrogance backed up by capability. Despite her appearance she is certainly not a person to be trifled with. Notable EventsAt some point prior to March 3745 ELC, Naeb's expedition base was attacked and all personnel were either killed or abducted. Although dead Viskr commandos were later found at the site, it is now believed that the Shaeld Hratha were responsible for that attack and that they carried it out using the Viskr as Thralls.
Some time later Naeb re-emerged at Gemen Station, where she almost certainly played some role in the apparent hostile activity there. When she was found by Elm Caden and Rendir Throam, Naeb was in what could be called a catatonic state (→SFTD). Naeb was taken from Gemen Station to Fort Kosling, where she was described by psychiatrist Vella Laekan as being "tabula rasa... a blank slate". She was initially given the nickname "The Blank Woman", but shortly after hearing Laekan describe her as tabula rasa, Peras Tirrano described her as a "Rasa". Although she did not know it at the time, Tirrano had given a name to more than just Amarist Naeb (→SFTD). Doctor Laekan later discovered unusual structures in Naeb's brain, structures which she could not identify. Shortly after this Naeb became animate, and destroyed Laekan's work station after seriously injuring the doctor with a scalpel. Naeb then disabled fire suppression systems and ignited the medical deck. She eventually boarded the ICS Hector, a corvette in dry-dock, seized control of it, and after causing significant internal damage to Fort Kosling, made her escape (→SFTD). Naeb later resurfaced, in company with Herik Pammon, when the pair visited Fort Laeara. After boarding the station they allowed themselves to be detained, and delivered an ultimatum from the entity known as Voice. This ultimatum was later found to be a ruse, intended to allow a much more significant and harmful outcome, and the pair left the station soon after. With the arrival of Shaeld Hrathan dreadships, Occre Brant and Peras Tirrano had no choice but to let Naeb escape once more (→TRD). During a conversation with Danil Bel-Ures, Elm Caden later realised that he and his associates had managed to confuse themselves about the nature of Naeb's relationship with Voice. He came to believe that she was not a Mouthpiece, but as he had originally thought she was in fact a Thrall. This had serious implications — given her behaviour at Fort Laeara — and prompted Caden to urge immediate action from Occre Brant (→FSS). Naeb's current whereabouts are unknown, however it is believed that shortly after leaving Fort Laeara she travelled to Palanda Ire, leaving shortly before the Battle of Arroch Bay (→ASTTS).
