OverviewMeccrace Prime is a highly developed world, an economically and strategically important planet, and home to millions of Imperial Combine citizens.
It is a terrestrial or "rocky" planet. A strong magnetic field deflects a significant amount of harmful stellar radiation. Around 64% of the surface of the planet is covered by water, an organic solvent, and the climate is generally warm and humid across much of the continental land masses. All of these attributes contributed significantly to the emergence of lush native life on the planet. The biosphere is rich and diverse, with species representing almost all of the known kingdoms of life. Invigilator March Bel-Askis described the planet as "strategically important, and it has abundant natural resources, a huge population, and significant investment value." As a highly developed world, Meccrace Prime does of course have its own gate and nexus. The planet also has a moderate number of orbital defence platforms, and it is the default mustering point for the Eighth Fleet of the Imperial Navy. A starport on the surface facilitates trade and tourism. Most notably, Meccrace Prime is the location of a large, multi-storey regional command facility operated by Eyes and Ears. This is one of their few publicly acknowledged installations. |
Recorded Events
The Invigilator for the Meccrace system was one of those who voted 'yes', to the question of whether or not they believed the Viskr Junta responsible for attacking the Empire (→SFTD).
Occre Brant discovered that Doctor Danil Bel-Ures had returned to the Meccrace system from Herros, shortly before Gemen Station fell silent. He noticed that that was where her family lived, which was the likely reason for her trip (→SFTD).
Elm Caden planned to have Bel-Ures picked up by Eyes and Ears field agents. When he discovered that Gordl Branathes was on his way to Meccrace Prime, and probably intended to kill or abduct Bel-Ures, Caden travelled there himself (→LOTD).

The first large scale attack by the Shaeld Hratha occurred in orbit, in what is now known as the Battle of Meccrace Prime. The engagement cost the Eighth Fleet dearly, and even with the assistance of a task force from the First Fleet the Imperial Navy was forced to abandon the system (→LOTD).
Maber Castigon travelled to Meccrace Prime after intercepting data packets revealing it as Caden's destination. While extracting Bel-Ures from the surface Caden and his party ran into Castigon. This event led directly to Rendir Throam being stranded on the surface of the planet during a global invasion, and his presumed death (→LOTD).
While in the Eyes and Ears facility on Meccrace Prime, Caden had his first encounter with the entity he named as Voice (→LOTD).
After fighting with Throam, Castigon fell into the pit left by a Shaeld grounding splinter and was exposed to the Rasa virus (→TRD).

Admiral Tabius Bel-Messari was one of the people involved in preventing Elm Caden from returning to Meccrace Prime (→TRD).
Footage showing the occupation of Meccrace Prime was leaked onto the Imperial communications network by the crew of the civilian hauler Leo Fortune. The footage spread quickly throughout the Empire, giving most citizens their first substantive evidence of a hitherto rumoured invasion, and waves of refugees began to flood gateway star systems. Along with other intelligence operators, Occre Brant was tasked to find the source of the leak (→TRD).
The Imperial Navy deployed new stealth probes to the Meccrace system to observe events as they unfolded (→TRD).
Events at Meccrace Prime partly vindicated the tactical decisions made by Aker Santani at Woe Tantalum (→TRD).
A joint CAGA-Shard operation took place on Meccrace Prime while Operation Keystone was underway on Guathelia. Maber Castigon was one of the people retrieved from the planet during that operation (→TRD).
