The Herses system is normally under the complete control of Earth's Imperial Combine. At the current time it is blockaded by Shaeld Hrathan dreadships — the degree to which their forces are present on the surfaces of the inhabited planets is not known (→FSS).
Herses is a strategically vital planetary system situated between the Three-K and Six-K defence radials of the Orion arm. Its location means it can be used to route large volumes of gate traffic between the Orion, Perseus, and Sagittarius arms of the galaxy. It is a major transfer node in the gate network, and normally handles massive volumes of freight and passenger transports. The populated planets of the system are:
There is one uninhabited planet in the system, which is a gas giant:
Of those planets, Ramm Stallahad is the most important and most heavily populated. The other four inhabited planets host much smaller populations, and produce less industrial and cultural output. The Herses system is home to both Fort Herses and the Hepira shipyards, both of which are in wide orbit of Ramm Stallahad. Under normal circumstances a shuttle service carries workers between their worlds and the shipyards, as required (→TRD). |
