Maber Castigon was born as Matvei Avksentiyevich Castigon. In the formative years he spent on Earth, being raised by his domineering Uncle Tyoma. he was more often known as 'Matvei Avksentiyevich Volkov'.
He is currently an ex-counterpart, last assigned to Elm Caden. Their working relationship ended when Castigon deliberately caused huge numbers of civilian casualties and attempted to place the blame on Caden.
Castigon spent ten solars in an Imperial Combine prison before being released in March 3745 ELC. Immediately upon his release he evaded probation services, and set about tracking down and killing the shards who had given evidence against him at his trial.
It was this campaign of terror which led Castigon to be present on Meccrace Prime during a planetary assault by the Shaeld Hratha, which in turn exposed him to the Rasa virus.
Castigon's exact medical status — his relationship to Voice, his mental stability, and his physical capabilities — are not currently known.

Early Life
After the death of his parents when he was only a year old, Maber Castigon was raised by his maternal uncle Artyom Ilyich Volkov (Артём Во́лков, informally Tyoma or Тёма).
Artyom's home was in a rural enclave, very close to the ancient town of Revda, Sverdlovsk Oblast. This was an administrative area of what had once been Earth's Russia.
Castigon's original given name was Matvei (Матвей, informally Motya). He adopted an apparently unconnected diminutive form — 'Maber' — while trying to survive his teenage years, and dropped the patronymic 'Avksentiyevich'.
Although he grew up being referred to by his uncle's family name of Volkov, he reverted to his paternal family name of Castigon with the deliberate intention of further confusing his identity for government agencies.

Personality
As a fully grown adult, Castigon demonstrates some psychotic and sociopathic tendencies. He is tenacious, vicious, callous, and lacks empathy. He appears to be unable to accept responsibility for some of his own actions — in particular those which led him to be incarcerated — and he will gladly lie to achieve his goals.
Having murdered several of his erstwhile colleagues, Castigon appears to be adopting an ever more cavalier attitude towards the value of human life. Since leaving prison behind, on Urx, he has needlessly killed several people who were not his intended targets.
