OverviewRamm Stallahad is the most important and most heavily populated world in the Herses system. The other four inhabited planets host much smaller populations, have less diverse biospheres, and produce less socio-cultural output. The planet has always been described as one the Empire would never surrender, however that claim has now been shown to be overly bold.
Ramm Stallahad falls into class one, with a climate and biosphere supporting human life easily. Other than the usual apex predators and exotic diseases there are few direct threats to human life. There are however only a few edible native plants, and geological features exist which restrict municipal expansion. Both of these factors have only just prevented Ramm Stallahad from achieving class zero status. A typical region in the planet's temperate zone featured mountains and valleys, lakes of fresh water, and trees with green or yellow foliage (→TRD). Ramm Stallahad has an unusually deep atmosphere for a class one planet, with cloud layers extending through tens of kilometres from the ground. The clouds can be so substantial that they are able to conceal entire dreadships, as viewed from orbit (→TRD). Ramm Stallahad is one of the Imperial Combine's primary sites for xtryllium storage, and the planet hosts one of the largest facilities where surplus material is stockpiled for later use (→TRD). Fort Herses is orbitally associated with Ramm Stallahad, as are the Hepira shipyards. Many of the workers employed at Hepira Shipyards live on Ramm Stallahad, and a shuttle service is available at all times to transport them to and from the fabrication platforms (→TRD). Ramm Stallahad has both long- and short-range orbital weapon platforms, and hosts a contingent of Guardian Shield defence vehicles. On the surface, CAGA maintains various garrisons and provides Gorilla GSPs, mobile artillery units, and a network of anti-drop batteries (→TRD). Notable Residents: |
Recorded Events
In early 3745 ELC, the fortress in orbit of Ramm Stallahad was used by March Bel-Askis as the focal point for a conference between many Eyes and Ears invigilators (→SFTD).
Ramm Stallahad was one of the planets which Proconsul Derrimus Kalistine intended to rival with his development of Serrofus Major. This was not a particularly achievable goal, at least not within his lifetime (→LOTD).
Fleet Captain Tassa Riese was recalled to Ramm Stallahad as part of the investigation into Admiral Groath Betombe (→TRD).
At the end of March 3745 ELC, Elm Caden travelled to Ramm Stallahad to pool the results of his investigation with representatives of Eyes and Ears (→TRD).
The Empress herself ordered an increase in the workforce sourced from Ramm Stallahad as a response to increased activity by the Shaeld Hratha. One of the starships completed during this period of enhanced output was the Huntress-class ICS Hammer II (→TRD).
During a hearing which was supposedly intended to discipline him for his actions at Blacktree, Admiral Betombe had sight of large volumes of tactical information which had been prepared for Fleet Command. He correctly identified — with impressive speed — that a large-scale invasion of Ramm Stallahad by the Shaeld Hratha was imminent. That invasion was repelled, albeit at significant cost. The entire strike was part of a larger plot orchestrated by Voice, and it had serious consequences for the Imperial Combine (→TRD).
Within three weeks of the successful defence of Herses the entire system fell to a more substantial invasion attempt. Along with Fort Herses, Hepira shipyards, and the other planets of the system, Ramm Stallahad is currently occupied by the Shaeld Hratha and their associated forces (→FSS).
