Overview

Reximillian Bel-Kenita is a physicist, and one of several heirs to the Bel-Kenita family fortune. He is a silent, minor partner in Kenita-Deng Incorporated, and has been actively researching a revolutionary field of transportation technology he calls co-location.

Rex is believed, by many of those with whom he has passing contact, to be possessed of an eidetic memory. This often prompts envious reactions to him. The truth — which Rex has grown tired of explaining to people over and over again — is that he suffers with aggressively exhibited hyperthymesia, a condition which prevents him from ever forgetting anything and forces him to visualise branching sequences of related memories at inconvenient moments. This condition was a living hell until he was able to obtain an augment implant, which helps him to manage and control his memory and recall.

Notable Events

As the Great War of the Shaeld started to become more overt even Rex could not fail to notice the unrest on Kementhast Prime, on the odd occasions that he looked up from his work. Realising that the planet was becoming dangerous he decided to return home to Damastion until the situation was resolved, and he used his network of contacts to make a deal for safe passage with the Imperial Navy (→IDOD).

A deal was made swiftly, in light of Rex's reputation, and the navy requested that in return for being ferried home safely, Rex would assist engineers and scientists aboard the advanced prototype star cruiser ICS Ardent. Their mission was to understand and resolve the drive issues which were causing wormholes to become less and less accurate as time went on, a serious problem for the entire Imperial Combine. Rex agreed gladly, since he anticipated that the cause of the problem would be relatively trivial.

Rex was picked up by the Ardent — an advanced star cruiser — as it made its way to a final stopover at Wah-a-la-han Anchorage. After making friends with chief engineer Zana Turei, Rex boarded the anchorage briefly to help her requisition supplies for the Ardent's mission.

Rex spent some time working on the Imperial Combine's navigation problem while aboard the Ardent, working mostly with Lem Bataan scientist Mol Gai. but it was not long before his thoughts and actions turned towards the deteriorating situation aboard ship, which saw members of the crew acting increasingly erratically. It was not long before Rex had his first encounter with Voice.

Imperial records are unclear as to the final fate of Reximillian Bel-Kenita, Captain al-Rashid, the ICS Ardent, or any registered crew and passengers. The ship remains listed as missing.
