Overview

Doctor Vella Laekan is a psychiatrist who was summoned to Fort Kosling by one of the staff doctors, after Amarist Naeb was brought to the station in an apparent catatonic state. Little is known of her background, other than she is fond of sampling all the different forms of tea the many worlds have to offer.

Notable Events

In 3745, Laekan conducted an initial examination of Amarist Naeb and concluded that she was tabula rasa; a 'blank slate'. It was this assessment that led Peras Tirrano to coin the term Rasa, a label which was more significant than she knew at the time (→SFTD).

Shortly after this Laekan conducted several scans of Naeb's brain, and found structures which she could not identify. She showed these images to Gordl Branathes and Occre Brant, but the data was destroyed prior to being seen by the experts she requested to assist her in her investigation (→SFTD).

Laekan was alone in medical on Fort Kosling when Amarist Naeb suddenly became animate. Naeb stabbed Laekan with a scalpel, pushing it deep into her abdomen and causing a very serious injury. After destroying Laekan's work station, sabotaging fire control systems, and igniting parts of medical, Naeb left Laekan to bleed to death (→SFTD).

Doctor Laekan somehow managed to find her way to an emergency shelter during the destruction of Fort Kosling, crawling through the medical bays while bleeding profusely. She was rescued during the relief operation at Kosling and transferred to Fort Laeara. She was last known to be in a serious condition, and was placed in an induced coma by the Laearan medical staff (→LOTD).
