Overview

Westry Eilentes is the father of Euryce, Brex, and Lasan Eilentes. He is the husband of Maishan, with whom he resides on Kementhast Prime.

Westry is a business owner, running his own specialist, interstellar freight and transport concern. He is a proudly self-made man who is very supportive of other local businesses and entrepreneurial spirits.

Notable Events

Westry's daughter Euryce Eilentes subconsciously learned the same long-suffering expression her mother used to adopt whenever Westry would come home and proudly place some recovered junk on the table (→SFTD).

In 3717 ELC there was an annual air-space vehicle show held at the Villium Grande Aerospace Centre on Kementhast Prime. With this being local to their home Westry and Maishan attended, taking their children Eury, Lasan, and Brex with them. There they watched an impressive display of both civilian and military craft being flown (→TRD).

Eury recalled that it had been all her father talked about for weeks prior to the actual event. Westry's enthusiasm for air-space vehicles, and his support of local businesses and tradespeople, no doubt contributed to his excitement. This may have been enhanced at that particular year's show, because some of the aircraft displayed — for example a new DA-42 Makepeace assault bomber, which was destined to be delivered to the ICS Stiletto — had had major components fabricated and installed at Kementhast's own Kenita-Deng orbital factory. At the event itself Westry made sure he obtained a souvenir holo programme, and pushed his way towards the front of the crowd so that his family could see more easily. Like many there he was most excited for and impressed with the co-ordinated efforts of the Kementhast Conquerors, a civilian display team captained by local figure Roima Gotharom (→TRD).

Not long after this event Roima Gotharom gave a free talk for residents of Villium, which was hosted one evening in the town's public square. Westry attended with Euryce, who had been especially taken with Roima's performance and the mythos which she was starting to perceive around Gotharom's career. At the talk Westry was impressed with Gotharom's delivery, and a lot of what she said resonated with him. They had both effectively dragged themselves up from nothing, achieving great success by their own standards despite depressingly negative forecasts from the education and careers assessment system. When a boorish attendee heckled Gotharom, Westry intervened and argued the man down, eventually showing him up to the extent that the male left the event. This resulted in Westry and Roima Gotharom having a conversation of their own after the event had ended (→TRD).

During the above-mentioned verbal confrontation with the boorish male, Westry revealed publicly that he had built up his own inter-systems shipping and transport concern from nothing. This was despite his state-prescribed career pathway being accountancy, and his Intellectual Fitness Quotient — a key metric in the Imperial Combine education and careers assessment system — being only a grade four, a level which is widely considered to be harmfully low (→TRD).

​During this same stage of his life Westry used to bring home pieces of discarded machinery or electronics he had found, believing they might have some practical or financial value. Many of them he gave to Eury, purely for entertainment purposes, telling her that they had belonged to Roima Gotharom. Eury treated them as relics, and neither Westry nor Maishan had the heart to tell her that he had been joking (→TRD).

By 3722 ELC his youngest daughter Eury had expressed an interest in accompanying Westry when he went out shooting game. He suspected — correctly — that she actually had no interest in shooting, and that she only wanted to spend time with her father. He indulged that fiction gladly. Eury deliberately sabotaged his efforts to teach her how to use a shotgun safely, despite absorbing the knowledge he imparted like a sponge, but she became more enthusiastic when he suggested she might be allowed to also learn how to properly use a rifle (→TRD).

It was after one such trip out to the countryside that Westry returned home with Eury to find his wife and other children gathered around the house holo in a state of shock. News was breaking from the front lines of the Perseus conflict, and it transpired that a navy carrier called Gather in Thy Fellows had been ambushed by the Viskr at a colony world named Capita Munduras. Roima Gotharom had been one of the fighter pilots assigned to that ship, and was presumed dead along with the rest of the ship's company. Westry was unable to console the distraught Eury (→TRD).

Some time after 3730 ELC Westry and Maishan welcomed their daughter Lasan back home gladly, after her relationship with Artho collapsed around her (→TRD).

In 3745 ELC Westry was on his way home when he saw a shooting star in the cloudless night sky. He did not know it at the time, but he had witnessed an Atmospheric Dispersal Warhead entering the atmosphere of Kementhast Prime (→TRD).

By the time Euryce Eilentes first headed to Forge Ruinous with Elm Caden and their other associates, she had been unable to contact Westry, Maishan, or her twin siblings for some time (→FSS).
