Overview
Manufactured by Penvos Robotics, the PRAISE Unit was one of a few types of robotic design which acted as a forerunner for the polybot template.
PRAISE is an acronym for "Penvos Robotics Autonomous Intelligent Sensor Equipment". The robot is a roughly dog-shaped quadrupedal device capable of roaming through any arbitrarily defined work area without supervision. It will normally relay its sensor data and conclusions back to a human operator at a remote location. While not in use, the entire robot can be folded away such that it resembles a suitcase.
The platform is highly extensible, with replaceable, modular sensor units that contain their own specialised algorithms.
In March 3745 ELC, Leo Fortune crew member Prayer Monsul used such a device on the devastated Imperial Combine colony world Lophrit. The PRAISE was able to detect organic chemical markers in the air, and used them to estimate the number of dead trapped beneath the capital's rubble (→LOTD).
