Overview

Modim Earstly Caden was an officer of the Imperial Navy, father to brothers Lau and Elm, and husband to Chia Bel-Veres Caden.

He met Chia, of the wealthy Bel-Veres family, while on shore leave on the affluent planet Damastion. After this initial meeting he took every opportunity to visit when he was rotated away from the front. Chia eventually married Modim against the wishes of her family, and in doing so abdicated her claim to a vast inheritance.

Notable Events

The relationship between Modim and Chia soured over time, and he eventually left for his new duty rotation with no intentions of coming back. He died during that rotation, prior to Lau's birth (→SFTD).

Modim was a commander in the ICS Curtailer, a heavy battleship attached to the Fifth Fleet. He was killed in 3722 ELC, at the Siege of Laeara, just prior to the cessation of hostilities during the Perseus conflict. At the time of his death, he was the First Officer on the Curtailer.
