The Imperial Combine maintains an armada that is capable of patrolling and protecting thousands of star systems. To ensure that the fleets in the armada are fit for purpose, can meet the requirements demanded of them, and can face new challenges in a changing galaxy, ship classes undergo frequent redesigns within their role classification.
At the current time the ships of the navy are being replaced according to the following roadmap. As can be seen from this list, the empire has recently added faster ship designs to their cruiser and battleship lines, with lighter hull armour and fewer onboard facilities.
- Ships of the previous class are no longer under construction contract.
- Ships of the current class are still being constructed.
- Ships of the current prototype may be undergoing field testing, however general commissions are not yet being issued.
