Nur Rohana binti Ishak, known to most as Doctor Rohana, is a civilian scientist currently working aboard the Imperial Research Vessel Lovelace. She is of Malaysian descent and proud of her heritage, with a strong sense of connection to her cultural past.
In the weeks following the introduction of the Shaeld Hratha to the Imperial Combine, Doctor Rohana worked night and day to try to understand as much as she could about the species. She is now one of the foremost experts in the empire, although she would be the first to admit that she has only just scratched the surface.

Doctor Rohana was the person who took the lead research role when the Shaeld eggs recovered during Operation Keystone were whisked away from Guathelia. She studied those eggs aboard Lovelace until they hatched, then used what she had learned to ensure that she could care for — and therefore continue to study — the emerging offspring.
After the eggs had hatched, Rohana played host briefly to Elm Caden. She explained what she had learned so far, and he shared his own findings about Shaeld communications. Together they cautiously developed an unconventional notion as to how the Shaeld Hratha might reproduce (→FSS).
