Josué Cabrera was a childhood associate of Rendir Throam. He too lived on Level 230 of the City of Peru, a megastructure located on Earth. He was the elder brother of Elías, and the son of Father Cabrera.
In the early 3700s Josué was one of the various children associated with Rendir's circle of friends, and along with Rendir and mutual acquaintance Hitami he was one of the eldest among them. He frequently took part in "Frontline", a team-based game in which the children acted out Perseus conflict events they had seen in the newsfeeds. While doing so Josué would tend to try and influence proceedings to obtain the best outcome for himself, often switching teams according to whichever faction had won the real-life engagement. He was an arrogant and egotistical child, whose close friends tended to be impatient and somewhat unkind.
Josué was deeply dismissive towards his younger brother Elías, calling him stupid openly and speaking to him in a scornful manner. Although it was obvious that the pair's mother had issued an injunction to him about how he was to treat his younger sibling, Josué used blackmail to ensure that Elías would not report his bullying (→LOTD).
As a result of Josué's narcissism, in 3720 ELC his brother Elías was injured while the group were re-enacting events from the invasion of a Viskr-held Perseus arm planet called Najila. Josué contributed to that event by tussling with Rendir Throam, and the pair knocked Elías off balance which led directly to him falling some distance (→LOTD).
Josué later enraged Rendir Throam by beginning a romantic relationship with Hitami, a girl he had previously threatened and for whom Rendir had his own strong feelings. While Hitami insisted that Josué was growing up and becoming more responsible, his words towards Rendir and Hitami at a local maulball match showed otherwise (→LOTD).
