Overview

Brehim was a childhood friend of Elm Caden. He was the son of one of Elm's mother's socialite friends and thus — in Chia Bel-Veres Caden's eyes at least — was a suitable companion for her child (→SFTD).

Brehim was two Solars older than Elm, and had attention and treats lavished upon him. His success in the educational system was one of his own mother's favoured topics of discussion.

Brehim was the owner of an electronic toy battleship, a fact over which Elm Caden was immensely jealous. During their play time Elm was at a distinct disadvantage with his wooden toy ships. Even in their superior numbers, it was taken for granted by both boys that they were inferior to the more sophisticated electronic toy. Elm generally lost the games they played.

Brehim was the only boy living in the area local to the Svelengarth estate with whom Elm was allowed to associate. All of his other friends were picked for him by his mother, from amongst his schoolmates (→SFTD).
