It's been a long time since there was an audiobook release in the Armadaverse.
For the past year, Amazon has had a new programme in beta which can generate audiobooks from Kindle editions. After being invited recently, RCV has now tested the system using the two available expansion episodes: I Dream of Damastion and A Storm to the Savage. You can obtain these immediately from Amazon US or Audible US. I'm keen to know what readers think of the job the system has done, because this could be a game-changer for books which otherwise would never have been available in this accessible format. Owners of the Kindle edition receive a huge 80% discount on the retail purchase price through Amazon. ![]() The Ravening Deep has now joined I Dream of Damastion in the wide marketplace! The novel has populated across numerous ebook sales platforms and libraries already, and paperbacks are available from major retailers across the globe. More will be added as they publish their product pages. The ebook is still available to buy for Kindle, but is no longer in the Kindle Unlimited subscription service. More of the Armadaverse books will be arriving with non-Amazon retailers over the next six weeks. You can see approximate timescales in the previous announcement. It was hoped that the Omnibus Editions would be able to stay in Kindle Unlimited, but unfortunately due to Amazon's Kindle Select rules they cannot. Ebooks in the programme must be exclusive to Kindle, and if the content is available elsewhere (even as separate books), then they are excluded.
So, if you're currently reading the Books 1&2 Starter Pack or the Books 1–3 Omnibus through Kindle Unlimited, you have until Monday 14th April! There may be a day or two grace period as the KU system catches up. ![]() I Dream of Damastion is officially the first Armadaverse book to 'go wide', and is no longer exclusive to Amazon Kindle. You can now find the novella on Kobo, Nook, Apple Books, and many other eBook platforms including popular digital lending libraries. Paperbacks are arriving with additional major retailers. The rest of the books in series one will appear on the same sites over the next two months. The Armada Wars back catalogue will soon be 'going wide', which means the Ebook editions will be available at a range of retailers and no longer exclusive to Amazon Kindle.
The drawback of this decision is that the books will no longer be available to borrow as part of Kindle Unlimited. Electronic editions can only take part in KU if they're exclusive to Amazon. Kindle editions will still be available via Amazon/Kindle as normal retail purchases, and if you've purchased any outright they will of course stay in your account. If you're currently reading an Armadaverse title via KU, here are the deadlines before the books leave the subscription platform: All eBooks have now been updated with minor changes:
A minor update has been issued today for From Shattered Stars.
Updates have been delivered for the Kindle edition (now rev. 1.4), as well as the current imprints of the paperback editions. The paper versions are now live for all new customers. The Kindle version is live for new customers, and available as a free update for existing customers. You can check for waiting updates on your "Manage my Devices and Content" page, accessible from the Kindle section of your local Amazon site: UK Customers ↗︎ • USA Customers ↗︎
With the release of A Storm to the Savage, quite a few background changes have also come to pass...
If you are not subscribed to the newsletter you may have missed the latest in terms of social media. There is a likelihood that the Armadaverse will be quitting Facebook. This web site remains the best source for all Armadaverse news and information. There is also now a linktr.ee account which will be kept up to date with the sites/pages which are active and or useful. |
